DRONE 2000

Nicolas Maigret DRONE.2000 is a critical performance echoing the western taste for the drone technology, seemingly ludicrous and born of modelling and military research. The use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) has spread for ten years through hacking, cinema, video games and art spheres. It is highly promoted by the same societies producing them, militaro-industrial congglomerates, entertainment industry investments, as well as 20th century science-fiction fantasy. DRONE.2000 is a performance where autonomous objects moved by simple algorithms are patrolling over the audience. Their latent and dysfunctional presence is a concrete threat. Drone.2000 takes us into a dystopian situation, thus illustrating the military origins of these entertaining objects. Here, trusting the autonomy of the machine is not only a discursive concept but a true experience shared with the audience, triggering off their reactions, tensions and commitment of their bodies in situation of symbolic and real danger. http://peripheriques.free.fr/drone.2000/
ICOS

Hold On

Maxime Marion and Emilie Brout Somewhere between film and video-game, in the interactive installation Hold On, you can go your way through famous movie’s sequences like those from The Shining, Old Boy or Rocky… Thanks to an arcade-type device, you can choose and control sequences from those video-ludic style movies. Paradoxically using both the very contemporary interactivity process and the old recording practice, the spectator can control the movements of the main actor turned into an avatar. The spectator can break the logical rhythm of the movie and lengthens the action using his joystick. He can delay the inescapable course of the sequence unit its end, both playing with and against time. When machinimas are currently exploring video games to reproduce cinematics, Hold On, on the contrary, develops a playful and dynamic experience based on cinema. This interactive installation was completed in the frame of M2F residency program.http://www.eb-mm.net
Machine 2 Fish

Dardex-Mort2Faim Art group Machine 2 Fish is an installation in which the movements of a true living goldfish are being robotized by an experimental robotic system. Thanks to its prosthesis the goldfish can move as if in an earthly environment. The fish and the machine combine into a smart autonomous device inspired by cyborgs and bio-mimetism. This installation has been realized with the help of Ivan Chabanaud, Julien Marro Dauzat and Gregoire Lauvin. Dardex-Mort2Faim art group The Dardex-Mort2Faim art group gathers several artists, Quentin Destieu, Romain Senatore, Sylvain Huguet and Stephane Kyles. They are engaged in an exploration of the notion of play, reprocessing popular aesthetics and underground culture, thus underlining the frailty of social relationships and the human body confronted with today’s world. Because they appreciate the video game “8 bits” universe and the computer and networks revolution, they express themselves in installations and happenings using interactivity and games. Creator of M2F Creations association and GAMERZ Festival, in Aix-en-Provence, they collaborate with the International Centre for Art and New Technology in Praha (CIANT). They have also presented their works on a regular basis since 2003 in various exhibitions and festivals in France and abroad. http://dardex.free.fr Ivan Chabanaud As a precursory artist working with digital materials, Ivan Chabanaud started his researches in electronic culture in the 90’s with structures such as ART 3000 with the production of 3D videos and virtual realities, and the Centre International de Création video (CICV) with the immersing “Icarus” installation. He also takes part in internet services management for artistic and communication projects, with which he develops different web applications. Following this period, he joins the Scène Numérique project at the Théâtre du Merlan with Alain Liévaux and Jean-Michel Bruyère for the production of the digital part of living art shows and web projects. Now he develops his activities within Chabalab around the “multi-users” and “real-time” notions. He takes part in the “Réseaux Arts Numériques” workshops with some propositions about the capture of physiological data and their processing. http://www.chabalab.net Julien Marro Dauzat http://biogene.fr Gregoire Lauvin http://www.gregorth.net
